An Evening Of Repertoire

By American Liberty Ballet (other events)

3 Dates Through Mar 12, 2022

ABOUT ABOUT

As part of it's 10th anniversary season at The Theatre at St. Jeans on Manhattan's Upper East Side, American Liberty Ballet is proud to present an evening of mixed repertoire created by its very own dancers Quimen Sanchez, Miranda Bishop, Kasey Broekema, Analia Farfan, Whitney Janis, Allie Hutchins, and Artistic Director Valerie Mae Browne. The Saturday matinee performance will also include a few presentations by the talented Junior Company.

ALB is also excited to announce the presentation of works by New York's own, Mary Carpenter and critically acclaimed Brazilian choreographer Pedro Pires.

Formerly of The Metropolitan Opera, Charleston Ballet, Maryland Ballet, Lexington Ballet, and Ohio Dance Theatre; Mary Carpenter is now on faculty at world famous Steps on Broadway, and ALB Academy. She is best known for her YouTube Channel DanceWithMary NYC where she shares her experience as a Master Pointe Shoe Fitter. This is her second time presenting work with ALB.

A celebrated ballet dancer, teacher, choreographer and Artistic Director, Pedro Pires, after having worked for 40 years in Brazil and Portugal, has the great pleasure of presenting his first choreography on American soil for American Liberty Ballet. The work is intense, fast, and linear in design. A challenge to the dancer and a delight to the audience.

A new and interesting component of this performance will be the inclusion of painter New York Times featured artist Dmitri Karabchievsky who will be painting live on stage and the resulting piece of art will be available by silent auction. Mr. Karabchievsky is continuing in the European tradition of impressionism and expressionism, and is very interested in the idea of live collaboration with musicians and dancers.

Within ALB, this is perhaps the most highly anticipated show of the season. Here the company has the opportunity to stretch its artistic wings with neoclassical, contemporary, and jazz pieces set to popular music as well as masterpieces by Heitor Villalobos, Antonio Vivaldi, George Gershwin, and more. It is a program intended to move and inspire. It will not disappoint!
